IT Ticketing System

Organise internal IT requests with a self-hosted IT ticketing system. Control ticket intake, assignment, priorities, data and agent costs with TaskBridge.

An IT ticketing system that keeps every request organised

An IT ticketing system gives an internal support team one place to receive, assign, prioritise and resolve employee requests. Instead of losing problems across individual inboxes, chat messages and hallway conversations, each request becomes a ticket with an owner, status and visible history. TaskBridge provides that workflow on infrastructure your organisation controls.

What an IT ticketing system should organise

A ticket is more than a message. It records who reported the issue, what has already been tried, who is responsible for the next step and whether the request is still waiting. That shared record matters when several technicians support the same users or when an issue is handed from one person to another.

Intake. Employees can send a request by email without learning a complicated portal. TaskBridge converts the message into a ticket and keeps later replies with the same conversation.

Ownership. Tickets can be assigned to the appropriate agent or department so the team can see who is handling each request and which work remains unassigned.

Priority and status. The support team can distinguish urgent incidents from routine requests, track the current state and identify tickets that need attention or have become overdue.

History and accountability. Replies, internal notes and changes remain attached to the ticket. An audit log provides an additional record of activity for organisations that need to review what happened.

Turn email requests into a controlled IT workflow

Email is already where many employees ask for help. TaskBridge keeps that familiar starting point while adding the structure an ordinary shared mailbox lacks. End users can create tickets and continue the conversation from their inbox. Agents can reply, add notes and resolve straightforward requests by email, while using the application when they need to set a category, change priority or record the final resolution.

This email-first approach reduces friction for employees without leaving the IT team to manage an unstructured inbox. The optional portal remains available when a user needs to review tickets or perform an action that email cannot capture clearly.

IT ticketing, help desk ticketing and service desk ticketing

The labels often overlap. An IT ticketing system focuses on the tracked request: intake, ownership, priority, status and resolution history. An IT help desk ticketing system uses that same workflow to support employees and other users. An IT service desk ticketing system may place ticketing inside a wider service-management process.

TaskBridge concentrates on the practical help desk and ticketing layer. It gives internal teams a controlled queue, email-based intake, departments, roles, reporting and a visible audit trail.

See the workload before it becomes a backlog

A useful IT help desk ticketing system should make the queue understandable at a glance. TaskBridge includes a live dashboard, ticket lists and reporting for resolution time, customer satisfaction and overdue work. Teams can filter and follow requests by status, priority, department and agent instead of assembling the picture manually from separate mailboxes.

Custom ticket categories help you reflect the work your organisation actually receives, whether that means access requests, hardware problems, software support or another internal process. Built-in roles and permissions let you decide who can see and perform particular actions.

How to choose an IT ticketing system

Start with how your team actually receives and resolves work. A longer feature list is not useful if the deployment model, operating responsibility or licence does not fit.

Deployment and data control. Decide whether you want a vendor-hosted service or IT ticketing software on infrastructure your organisation controls. With self-hosting, your team or infrastructure partner is responsible for operating the environment.

Ticket intake. Check whether employees can use familiar channels. TaskBridge accepts requests by email and keeps the optional portal available when users need to review or update a ticket directly.

Ownership and organisation. The system should make it clear who owns each request and what happens next. Departments, categories, priorities, statuses and permissions should reflect the way your support operation already works.

Visibility and reporting. Look for a queue your team can understand quickly, overdue-ticket visibility and reports that help you review resolution activity rather than reconstructing it from separate inboxes.

Identity and access. Review role permissions and authentication against your own requirements. TaskBridge supports its own user database, LDAP or Active Directory password validation, together with two-factor authentication.

Licence and operating cost. Compare the full cost of the software and the infrastructure required to run it. TaskBridge uses a one-time internal-use licence without a per-agent TaskBridge charge.

An internal IT help desk you can run on your infrastructure

TaskBridge is self-hosted help desk software. It is supplied as a single Docker container for deployment on your own servers or private cloud. Ticket data therefore stays within infrastructure your organisation operates rather than in a vendor-hosted TaskBridge account.

You choose the appropriate security configuration, including two-factor authentication and password validation against the TaskBridge database, LDAP or Active Directory. Your organisation remains responsible for its infrastructure, backups, monitoring and operational security, while TaskBridge provides the application and deployment assistance.

One licence without a per-agent meter

TaskBridge is licensed for commercial internal use with a one-time software licence rather than a mandatory recurring per-agent subscription. The licence does not impose a TaskBridge charge for adding agents or end users, although your infrastructure and operating costs may change as usage grows.

The full source code is included for internal review and permitted customisation under the licence terms. TaskBridge is source-available, not open source: it may not be redistributed, resold or white-labelled as another product. See TaskBridge pricing for the current licence figure and the optional yearly updates arrangement.

When TaskBridge is the right IT ticketing system

TaskBridge is designed for organisations that operate their own infrastructure, want direct control over support data and need a practical internal ticket workflow without paying more each time the team grows. It is particularly relevant to internal IT departments, system administrators and support teams with data-residency or private-network requirements.

If your organisation wants the vendor to host and operate every part of the service, a cloud SaaS platform will be the more natural fit. Self-hosting gives you greater deployment control, but it also means your team or infrastructure partner must operate the environment. Read the broader self-hosted ticketing system guide for that trade-off in detail.

TaskBridge is also not intended to replace a broad enterprise ITSM or ESM programme. If your requirements extend well beyond a focused help desk and ticketing workflow, map those processes first and test the fit during a demo.

Questions about IT ticketing software

Can TaskBridge be used only for internal IT?

Yes. Departments, categories, roles and permissions can be configured around an internal IT workflow. The same application can also support other teams if your organisation chooses to use it more broadly.

Do employees need to log in to create a ticket?

No. An end user needs a TaskBridge account, but can create a request and continue the conversation by email without logging in to the portal.

Can we use our existing directory?

TaskBridge can validate passwords against its own database, LDAP or Active Directory. The appropriate configuration depends on your environment and should be reviewed during deployment.

How is TaskBridge installed?

TaskBridge is packaged as a single Docker container. We work with your IT team to deploy and test it on the infrastructure selected for the installation.
